Statement Regarding Sourcing Error from 2008 Campaign

Alexandria, VA – Following is a statement from Mark Ellmore, Republican candidate for Congress in Virginia’s Eighth Congressional District, regarding accusations of a sourcing error from his 2008 Congressional campaign:

During my 2008 campaign for Congress, an intern made a sourcing error on an official piece of campaign collateral. This error was quickly corrected, and an apology was immediately issued to my opponent. I was unaware of the sourcing error at the time, and new policies were quickly instituted to ensure that similar errors would not happen again.

I have always prided myself on running a high energy, high integrity campaign, and that is my plan moving forward as I look to take on Don Beyer this November.

Mark Ellmore is a lifelong Alexandria resident and a Republican candidate for Congress from Virginia’s Eighth District. A residential lending executive by trade, Ellmore is a constitutional conservative who is committed to working in Congress to keeping our economy strong, reducing the costs of healthcare for hardworking Americans, and keeping our borders safe and secure. Ellmore is also very passionate about serving his local community through mission outreach efforts. Ellmore is happily married to Fariba, an Iranian-born artist. He has two adult children, Richard – a United States Air Force veteran – and Amera.

Virginia’s Eighth Congressional District includes all of Arlington County, portions of Fairfax County, and all of the independent cities of Alexandria and Falls Church. It is currently represented in Congress by Democratic Rep. Don Beyer.
